Undither – Children of Democracy is about children’s lives in two of the world’s greatest democracies, namely India and the United States.
It began as a contemplative penning of interactions with underprivileged children in Delhi. A few years later during the design process, Associated Press photographs of children in the U.S. were included. These represent parallel issues, such as substance abuse, migration, and working children. Universal developmental issues emerged from the juxtaposition of visuals from American life and text from India. This critique is full of insights that include quotes from the children, observations from the author, and in places where relevant, policy decisions and government action.
